Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled an alleged baby factory in the Mowe area of the state, rescuing two pregnant women and four children. Six suspects were also arrested in connection with the operation.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the raid took place at about 8 a.m. on Monday, August 24, at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole, Mowe. It followed sustained intelligence on alleged human trafficking and illegal adoption activities at the facility.

The rescued pregnant women were identified as Ilesanmi Foluke, 23, who is seven months pregnant, and Ejekwa Melody, 20, who is eight months pregnant. Four children — two boys and two girls — were also freed during the operation.

The suspects arrested include Florence Glory Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; Stephen Ogbona, 39; and an attending nurse, Oseni Kusamotu Idaya.

Further intelligence led officers to a nearby hospital where another woman, Blessing Bright Effiong, 26, had given birth on August 20, though the whereabouts of her newborn could not be established.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the officers involved and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling human trafficking and child trading, urging residents to provide timely information to support ongoing efforts.
