A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, has called for an investigation after discovering that mattresses and fans he donated to a hospital were nowhere to be found. The lawmaker represents the Ugya/Umaisha Constituency.

Sa’ad visited Umaisha General Hospital weeks after providing the items and was shocked to find that none of them were in use. He said he had personally purchased more than 50 ceiling fans, about 40 standing fans and 50 orthopaedic mattresses to improve conditions for patients and staff.

During the visit, the lawmaker confronted hospital management and staff, demanding to know the whereabouts of the donated materials. He questioned why earlier assurances that the items were still in storage had not been fulfilled.

One staff member reportedly explained that some mattresses had been given to discharged patients to use temporarily at home, with the expectation that they would be returned later. Sa’ad, however, insisted on a full account of all the items.

He said the matter would be reported to the Nasarawa State Hospital Management Board for investigation and possible recovery.

The lawmaker stressed that donations to public hospitals are meant to improve healthcare and the welfare of patients, not to disappear.
