Terrorists have reportedly abducted the traditional ruler of Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Onigbesi of Igbesi land.

The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, when the attackers reportedly invaded the community and whisked the monarch away to an undisclosed location.

Igbesi is located within Oke-Onigbin in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara South Senatorial District.

A local source said the attackers also abducted some residents during the raid, although the number of people taken away could not be immediately established.

The source added that the whereabouts of the monarch and other possible victims remained unknown as of the time of filing the report.

However, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, confirmed the abduction of the traditional ruler.

Adekimi, while confirming the incident, said the monarch was the only person kidnapped during the attack, contradicting reports that other residents were also abducted.

Security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to locate the monarch and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
