Federation Revenue Surges as FG, States, LGs Share ₦3.007 Trillion
The Federal Government, alongside the 36 states and 774 Local Government Councils, have shared a total of ₦3.007 trillion as federation revenue for July 2026.
This latest disbursement was officially approved during the August 2026 meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), held in Owerri, Imo State. The allocation reflects a substantial financial boost, as statutory collections rose by ₦658.09 billion, driven largely by improved receipts from both petroleum and non-oil taxes.
As highlighted by the recent Nairametrics update captured in the file 448029.jpg, the distribution signals a robust strengthening of the underlying revenue base across the country.
Gross statutory revenue experienced a significant leap, climbing to ₦4.359 trillion in July from the ₦3.700 trillion recorded in June. According to the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, this 17.8 percent increase was bolstered by stronger collections in areas such as Petroleum Profit Tax, Companies Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and various mineral royalties.
These financial gains effectively offset declines in import duties and miscellaneous oil revenues during the same period.
Conversely, consumption-tax receipts showed a slight contraction, with gross Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue declining marginally. VAT collections fell by 0.7 percent, dropping to ₦793.968 billion in July compared to the ₦799.746 billion generated in the preceding month.
Amidst these overall revenue gains, FAAC has strongly cautioned governments against treating the funds as a temporary windfall, urging them instead to utilize the stronger allocations to implement comprehensive fiscal reforms that will secure their finances over the long term.
