A Lagos Magistrate Court has ordered a woman identified as Shoyemi Damilola Titilayo to be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre following allegations that she incited violence against Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Afrobeats singer Mohbad, and their young son Liam.

The woman was arraigned at the Magistrate Court sitting at 111 Birrel Avenue, Onike, Yaba, on charges bordering on cyberbullying after prosecutors accused her of appearing in a TikTok live broadcast in which Wunmi was blamed for her husband’s death. Prosecutors further alleged that the broadcast went beyond mere accusations, allegedly serving as a direct call for members of the public to subject Wunmi and her son to jungle justice.

The trial magistrate granted the defendant bail, but attached conditions that keep her in custody for now. She has been ordered to remain at Kirikiri Prison until she produces two sureties, each of whom must deposit five hundred thousand naira. Both sureties are also required to show proof of residence in Lagos as well as tax clearance certificates covering the past three years, conditions that suggest the court is treating the case with considerable seriousness.

The development is the latest chapter in a saga that has trailed Mohbad’s family since the singer, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, died in September 2023 under circumstances that triggered nationwide grief, suspicion and a wave of online commentary.

His widow has remained a frequent target of public scrutiny and harassment in the years since, with various social media personalities weighing in on unresolved questions about his death.

Mohbad’s own father previously made public claims accusing Wunmi of responsibility for his son’s passing, allegations that have continued to fuel hostility toward her online.

Reactions to the latest court action have been mixed, with many social media users expressing support for Wunmi’s decision to pursue legal recourse against those they see as fuelling harassment campaigns against her, while others have questioned the wisdom of individuals inserting themselves into a matter that remains deeply personal and painful for the family involved.

The case has been adjourned for further hearing as the defendant works to meet her bail conditions.
