Kabiru Adamu Abdullahi, a long-standing associate of former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has resigned from the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abdullahi, who was also a prominent figure within the Kwankwasiyya political movement, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the NDC chairman of Kofar Ruwa Ward in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

He attributed his decision to what he described as persistent frustration and unfulfilled promises within the NDC, saying he had spent nearly three decades supporting Kwankwaso without seeing the benefits he expected.

“I have been with Kwankwaso for 29 years but have only benefited from failed promises. I will go to where I will be respected more,” Abdullahi said.

The development comes after Abdullahi had publicly reaffirmed his loyalty to Kwankwaso by swearing on the Qur’an following his political disagreement with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

In his resignation letter, Abdullahi expressed appreciation to the NDC for the opportunity to serve but formally declared his withdrawal from the party with immediate effect.

He further pledged his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election under the APC.
