The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has urged personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to cultivate a culture of safe road usage throughout Ibadanland and across Oyo State.

The traditional ruler issued this call while hosting a delegation of FRSC officers who paid him a courtesy visit at his Palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, on Wednesday.

In a press release issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Solomon Ayoade, the monarch encouraged FRSC officers to maintain high standards of professionalism, discipline, and respect when interacting with the public. He also urged them to partner with traditional rulers, the state government, sister security agencies, transport unions, and other critical stakeholders to foster safer transit corridors.

Describing Ibadan as the central home of all Yoruba people, the Olubadan noted that nearly every past and present leader maintains a residence in the ancient city, calling on all residents to work collectively with him to advance the development of Ibadanland.

Speaking earlier during the visit, the Sector Commander of the Oyo State Sector Command of the FRSC, Kehinde Dahunsi, expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception accorded to his management team during their historic royal visit to the palace.

Dahunsi highlighted that Ibadan occupies a significant place not only in Nigeria’s political, cultural, and socio-economic evolution, but also within the historical development of road safety administration in the country.

The Sector Commander observed that while roadways remain the primary link connecting communities and driving economic output, rapid population growth, rising vehicle ownership, and heightened human mobility across Ibadan and Oyo State present serious road safety challenges.

He stressed that government bodies cannot resolve these issues independently, emphasizing that traditional institutions remain vital partners in building effective public awareness and promoting responsible driving habits.
