The Osun State Government has dismissed a sponsored newspaper advertorial depicting a failed road and attributing the project to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, labeling the publication as false and politically motivated.

State authorities clarified that the degraded road featured in the front-page advertisement was actually built during the tenure of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and is geographically located at Mukoro in Ile-Ife, contrary to claims in the publication that placed it in Modakeke.

The advertorial, sponsored by a group identified as the New Hope for the Weak Foundation, featured images of degraded road surfaces and waste along with political captions targeting Governor Adeleke ahead of the upcoming August 2026 governorship election.

In response, state officials released the exact Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates of the site to allow the public to independently verify the location. Government representatives noted that infrastructure projects initiated under Governor Adeleke have not reached the stage of lane markings visible in the published photograph, confirming that the image could not have been drawn from any ongoing state projects.

Detailing the government’s official position, the Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Works, Bashiru Bello, emphasized that the current administration has spent considerable resources fixing infrastructure deficits left behind by previous leadership.
