FG Remands BOSYA President in DSS Custody Over Terrorism Allegation

The Federal Government on Wednesday arraigned the President of the Borno State Youths Association (BOSYA), Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, before a Federal High Court in Abuja on terrorism-related charges.

Kaigama, who was recently arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), appeared before Justice Salim Ibrahim, who ordered that he remain in the custody of the secret police pending the commencement of his trial.

The court subsequently adjourned the case until September 25, 2026.

The defendant came under public scrutiny after an interview on Channels Television last week, during which he acknowledged engaging in discussions with members of the Boko Haram insurgent group over alleged ransom payments involving kidnapped victims.

Security sources alleged that investigators have obtained evidence linking Kaigama to the extortion of relatives of kidnapping victims, an allegation forming part of the government’s case against him.

Further proceedings in the matter are expected to begin on the adjourned date.
