Niniola Shares Grief 2 Months after Losing Husband
Nigerian singer, Niniola Apata has spoken emotionally about the pain of losing her husband, businessman and music executive Michael Ndika, saying nothing could have prepared her for the reality of becoming a young widow.
The Afro house star shared her thoughts in a post on her Instagram page on Sunday to mark two months since Ndika’s sudden death.
Reflecting on her loss, Niniola said she had initially planned to record a video tribute but found herself overwhelmed by emotion and unable to go through with it. She wrote that it had been two months since her husband, business manager and best friend was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from her and from those around her.
She added that although she had lost her father at a young age, nothing had prepared her for the reality of becoming a widow, describing the period since his death as hard and exceedingly difficult.
The singer said some days had felt bearable while others were filled with indescribable pain, noting that she was still working through many unresolved matters and emotions.
She said she had leaned on her faith for strength throughout the ordeal and expressed gratitude for what she described as God’s continued comfort, even amid her questions and frustration.
Niniola’s latest post comes weeks after she sparked concern among fans following her first public appearance since announcing her husband’s death.
Videos of her shared online drew comments about noticeable weight loss, which many followers linked to the emotional toll of her bereavement.
She had first announced Ndika’s death in May through a series of posts on her Instagram Story, revealing the news with the words that her husband had died. Ndika served as the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on Afro house and contemporary African music.
The circumstances surrounding his death have not been disclosed.
