Spain capped a historic campaign by winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, and the tournament’s individual and team honours have now been confirmed following the Spaniards’ hard fought 1-0 extra time victory over Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium.

La Roja lifted the trophy for the second time in their history, 16 years after their first triumph at the 2010 tournament in South Africa, and also made history as the first World Cup winning side to concede just a single goal across an entire campaign.

France forward Kylian Mbappe claimed the adidas Golden Boot after finishing the tournament with 10 goals and four assists in eight matches, two clear of Argentina’s Lionel Messi. The award makes him the first player in World Cup history to win the top scorer prize in two consecutive editions of the tournament, and it also stretched his own record as the competition’s all time leading men’s scorer to 22 career goals.

Spain and Manchester City midfielder Rodri was named the tournament’s outstanding player, taking home the adidas Golden Ball after a campaign in which his composure and control anchored the Spanish midfield throughout their run to the title.

The 29 year old, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2024, edged out Messi and Mbappe for the honour despite not topping the statistical charts, with his overall influence on Spain’s game management proving decisive in the eyes of voters.

Spain’s Unai Simon picked up the Golden Glove as the tournament’s best goalkeeper after conceding just one goal in eight matches, keeping seven clean sheets along the way with a save percentage above 90 percent. No team had previously won the World Cup while conceding fewer goals than Spain managed this year.

Nineteen year old Barcelona defender, Pau Cubarsi was awarded the Young Player of the Tournament prize, becoming only the second teenager after Mbappe to win the honour in recent years, following his imperious performances at the back throughout Spain’s triumphant run.

The Netherlands were named winners of the FIFA Fair Play Award for their conduct across the tournament. Argentina, inspired by Messi in what is expected to be his final World Cup appearance, finished as runners up, while England claimed third place after a thrilling six four win over France in the bronze medal match.
