Four KWASU Researchers Secure International, National Grants for Four Projects
Four research teams from Kwara State University (KWASU) have secured competitive research grants from international and national funding organisations, further strengthening the institution’s profile in research and innovation.
A statement by the university disclosed that at the international level, a research team led by Bolatito Olanipekun received a $43,913 grant from TWAS-UNESCO.
Three other KWASU research teams also emerged successful under the 2025 National Research Fund (NRF) grant scheme.
The team led by Abdulwaheed Musa was awarded N37.59 million, while Kehinde Alabi’s team secured N25 million. Another research team headed by Khafayat Olatinwo received N20.4359 million.
Presenting the award letters to the beneficiaries, Vice-Chancellor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh congratulated the researchers, describing the achievement as evidence of the university’s commitment to promoting impactful research and innovation.
Jimoh also urged the grant recipients to mentor early-career researchers to strengthen the institution’s research culture and improve its ability to attract more competitive funding.
He said sustained mentorship and quality research would enhance the university’s global visibility and reinforce its reputation for academic excellence.
