Shettima Mourns Kaduna Human Capital Adviser, Sagir Balarabe
Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed sorrow over the death of the Special Adviser and Focal Person on Human Capital Development to the Kaduna State Government, Alhaji Sagir Balarabe, describing his passing as a significant loss to Nigeria’s human capital development sector.
Balarabe, who also served as Chairman of the North-West Focal Persons Forum, died on Sunday after a prolonged illness.
In a tribute issued on Monday, Shettima, who chairs the Steering Committee of the National Human Capital Development Programme 2.0, described the late adviser as a committed patriot whose dedication to improving the welfare of Nigerians left a lasting impact.
According to the Vice President, Balarabe devoted himself to ensuring that government policies and programmes translated into tangible benefits for citizens, adding that his contributions to the country’s Human Capital Development agenda would remain a model of effective leadership and public service.
Shettima further said Balarabe’s humility, commitment and passion for developing people would continue to inspire efforts aimed at improving human capital outcomes across the country.
Also paying tribute, the National Coordinator of Human Capital Development 2.0, Rukaiya El-Rufai, described the deceased as a dedicated public servant, a bridge builder and a man of deep faith whose work advanced the Human Capital Development agenda in Kaduna State and the North-West region.
She said Balarabe believed that investing in people was both a public duty and a personal responsibility, noting that his commitment to developing human potential defined his professional and personal life.
El-Rufai also commended his humility, intellectual capacity and willingness to mentor emerging leaders, adding that his efforts to strengthen collaboration among states and institutionalise Human Capital Development structures would continue to shape development initiatives across the region.
She extended condolences to the Kaduna State Government, Balarabe’s family and members of the Human Capital Development community, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and comfort for those he left behind.
