Remi Tinubu Advocates Increased Investment in Nigerians as Population Grows

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for increased investment in healthcare, education and youth development to ensure the country’s growing population contributes to sustainable national development.

In a message issued to commemorate the 2026 World Population Day, the First Lady said Nigeria must prioritise investment in its people, describing them as the nation’s greatest asset.

She stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure that women, young people and families have access to quality healthcare, education and opportunities that would enable them to realise their full potential.

According to her, strengthening investment in human capital is essential to promoting healthy lives, empowering families and supporting sustainable development as the country’s population continues to expand.

Oluremi Tinubu also encouraged Nigerians who are yet to enrol for the National Identity Number (NIN) to do so, noting that accurate population data is critical for effective government planning and the delivery of essential public services.

She said reliable population records would help authorities make informed decisions and adequately cater to the needs of Nigeria’s increasing population.

The First Lady reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to building an inclusive future where every citizen has access to opportunities that improve their quality of life, as she wished Nigerians a happy World Population Day.
