FRSC Announces Traffic Diversion on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has alerted motorists to a temporary traffic diversion on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway due to ongoing installation of warning gantries on bridges along the route.

The diversion affects drivers heading towards Ibadan, particularly on the Magboro-Ibafo section.

According to the FRSC Ogun State Sector Command, the work is being carried out by Buildwell Construction Company on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Works. Installation has already started at the first bridge in front of Mountain Top University at Kilometer 13 before Ibafo, and it is expected to peak on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Smaller vehicles such as cars, buses, pickup vans, and mini trucks will be redirected through the Magboro Under-Bridge to Ibafo, before rejoining the expressway at the NASFAT U-turn.

Articulated vehicles will be temporarily held back during the operation, which is expected to last about 60 minutes.
The FRSC urged motorists to remain calm, obey traffic rules, and follow directions from officials on ground.

The agency apologised for any inconvenience the diversion may cause, noting that the exercise is necessary to improve safety and infrastructure on the busy highway.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and exercise patience while the work continues. The FRSC assured that traffic management officials have been deployed to ease movement in the affected area.
