Trump Predicts Starmer’s Resignation, Citing Failures in Immigration, Energy Policies

United States President, Donald Trump has weighed in on the ongoing political turmoil in the United Kingdom, predicting that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will soon resign from office.

In a characteristically blunt statement posted on his Truth Social network, Trump asserted that Starmer had failed badly on two critical policy fronts: immigration and energy management.

The US President specifically criticized the UK’s domestic handling of its borders and its current fossil fuel restrictions, urging the administration to open up North Sea oil production before concluding his message by wishing Starmer well.

Trump’s public commentary comes at an incredibly precarious moment for the British Prime Minister, who is facing a severe leadership crisis within his own governing Labour Party.

Speculation regarding Starmer’s imminent departure has intensified rapidly following Labour’s disappointing performance in the recent Makerfield by-election, an outcome that has fueled widespread panic among party lawmakers over rising opposition from right-wing and anti-immigration factions like Reform UK.

Internal party pressure has mounted significantly, with reports indicating that over one hundred Labour Members of Parliament, alongside senior cabinet officials, have privately urged Starmer to step aside. Much of the party’s rank-and-file is now coalescing behind Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who is widely viewed as the frontrunner to succeed Starmer and reset the government’s political trajectory.

While Starmer has spent the weekend at the prime ministerial country estate, Chequers, reflecting on the political realities facing his leadership, Westminster insiders increasingly believe he may be forced to announce a definitive timetable for his resignation as early as Monday.
