We Control the Strait of Hormuz, Not Iran, Boasts Trump, Hints Secret Oil Mission

President Donald Trump has declared that the United States, not Iran, is in control of the Strait of Hormuz, claiming a covert military operation has successfully moved over 100 million barrels of oil and more than 200 commercial vessels through the strategic waterway.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump revealed that he had ordered the U.S. military last month to carry out what he described as a secret mission to escort oil tankers and commercial ships safely through the strait, which has been a major flashpoint amid the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. He said the operation had proven highly effective, insisting that Iran’s naval forces could not detect the movements due to the country’s degraded radar systems following recent strikes.

Trump framed the development as a turning point in the standoff, declaring that Iran’s military had been defeated and its economy crippled as a result of the campaign.

He credited the clandestine oil flows with helping to keep global crude prices from spiking far higher than current levels.

The disclosure follows weeks of reporting that U.S. Central Command had been quietly coordinating with shippers, guiding dozens of vessels through the narrow passage while many switched off their tracking transponders to avoid detection. The Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly a fifth of the world’s oil supply typically passes, has seen sharply reduced traffic since fighting broke out earlier this year, with Iran accused of mining sections of the waterway and attacking commercial ships.

Despite Trump’s upbeat assessment, analysts have cautioned that overall shipping volumes through the strait remain well below pre-war levels, even as some financial institutions suggest more oil may be moving through undetected than official figures indicate.
