U.S. Will Hit Iran ‘Very Hard Tonight, Says Trump, Targets Kharg Island

U.S. President, Donald Trump on Thursday said the United States would launch a major military strike against Iran and eventually take control of key Iranian oil and gas infrastructure, including Kharg Island.

In a post on social media, Trump declared that the United States would hit Iran “very hard tonight,” claiming that Iran’s naval, air, radar and air defense capabilities, along with much of its offensive military capacity, had been eliminated.

“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets,” Trump wrote.

The remarks marked a sharp escalation in U.S. rhetoric toward Iran amid ongoing tensions between the two countries. Kharg Island is regarded as Iran’s principal oil export terminal and plays a critical role in the country’s energy sector.

Trump compared the proposed move to U.S. involvement in Venezuela’s oil industry, describing it as beneficial to both countries.

The president did not provide specific details about the planned military action, including potential targets, timelines, or the legal and strategic framework for any future seizure of Iranian energy infrastructure.

Iranian authorities had not immediately responded to Trump’s comments as of the time of filing this report.

The latest statement is expected to heighten concerns about regional stability, global energy supplies and the possibility of a broader conflict in the Middle East.
