Vacate Party Secretariat, PDP Professionals Warn Mohammed-led Group After Appeal Court Ruling

The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led group, directing its members to immediately vacate the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza in Abuja or face lawful eviction.

The warning was contained in a statement released by the National Coordinator of the PDP Professionals, Obinna Nwachukwu, who said the position of the group was based on a recent judgment delivered by Justice Uchechukwu of the Court of Appeal in Appeal No. CA/IB/M.90/2026.

According to Nwachukwu, the appellate court’s decision effectively removed any legal basis for the continued occupation of the party secretariat by the Mohammed-led faction.

He stated that the judgment stripped the group of any legally recognised authority, describing its continued presence at the PDP headquarters as an act of trespass and political illegitimacy.

Nwachukwu explained that the Court of Appeal, while determining an objection challenging the appearance of Dapo Durosaro, Esq. as counsel for the PDP and its Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, examined the constitutional provisions governing the party’s internal affairs.

He said the central issue before the court was whether A.K. Ajibade, SAN, retained his position as National Legal Adviser and the authority to confer legal powers on external parties.

According to him, the court resolved the matter by affirming that Ajibade lost all powers attached to the office following his suspension on November 1, 2025.

The PDP Professionals noted that the court held that any exercise of powers assigned to a party official under the PDP Constitution while such an official remains under suspension is legally ineffective.

The group further stated that the judgment validated the decision reached at the 608th meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC), which directed the National Directorate of Legal Services to assume the responsibilities of the National Legal Adviser’s office and subsequently authorised Dapo Durosaro, Esq. to represent both the PDP and Ambassador Damagum.

The PDP Professionals maintained that the court’s ruling has settled the leadership and legal representation issues in dispute and insisted that all party members and stakeholders should comply with the judgment.
