Police Arrest Suspected Cultist, Recover Firearm in Efon
Security operatives have arrested a suspected cultist and recovered an illegal firearm following a coordinated intelligence-led raid in the Ita Baale area of Ogbori, Efon.
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit in collaboration with personnel of the Amotekun Corps, acting on credible intelligence about criminal activity in the area.
A 21-year-old male, identified as Salami Obisesan, was apprehended during the raid. A cut-to-size locally made firearm was recovered from his possession.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Obisesan obtained the weapon from a friend who is currently serving a prison sentence at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, Lagos. The suspect further disclosed that he is a member of the Neo Black Movement, also known as the Black Axe confraternity.
Obisesan is currently in police custody as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the illegal possession of the firearm and to identify any other individuals connected to the case. The recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit.
The Command reiterated its commitment to combating cultism, illegal firearm possession, and other criminal activities, while calling on members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid crime prevention and the apprehension of criminal elements.
