Students Hospitalised After Stampede at Edo Children’s Day Celebration

A sad incident happened during the Children’s Day celebration in Edo State when a stampede occurred at a stadium event.

Several students were injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment. The joyful day turned chaotic as young children gathered for the programme, causing panic and pushing among the crowd.

The Edo State Government has quickly set up an investigation into the stampede. Officials want to find out exactly what caused the unfortunate event and how it can be prevented in the future. Parents and teachers are worried about the safety of the children who attended the celebration.

Many of the injured students are receiving medical care in hospitals across the state. Health workers are doing their best to make sure all the children recover fully. This incident has raised fresh concerns about crowd control at public events
involving school children in Nigeria.

Children’s Day is meant to celebrate and honour young Nigerians, but events like this show the need for better planning. Organisers must ensure there is enough space, security, and proper management to keep everyone safe during large gatherings. The government is expected to use the findings from the probe to improve future celebrations.

Residents in Edo State are calling for stronger safety measures at children’s events. The quick response from the government brings some hope that lessons will be learned. Families affected by the stampede hope their children will recover soon and return to their normal activities.
