First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Promote Peace, Charity During Eid-el-Kabir
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence and show greater compassion to the less privileged as the country prepares for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a goodwill message to Muslim faithful across Nigeria and the diaspora, she described Eid-el-Kabir as a period for reflection on core values such as sacrifice, obedience, faith and kindness.
She stressed that national unity remains essential to Nigeria’s progress, noting that mutual respect and collective responsibility are key to building a more harmonious society.
According to her, Nigerians should use the occasion to strengthen bonds of friendship and promote understanding across religious and ethnic divides.
She encouraged citizens to extend gestures of kindness to vulnerable members of society, explaining that acts of generosity during the festive period could restore hope and provide relief to those in need.
The First Lady also called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace, stability, and national development.
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, is a major Islamic festival that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God, before a ram was provided as a substitute.
The celebration is traditionally marked with special prayers, the slaughtering of livestock, and the sharing of meat with family, neighbours, and the less privileged.
