Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace, have foiled a suspected attack after responding to reports of armed men moving with cattle around Vodni community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, after troops received information about the movement of armed men reportedly accompanied by cattle in the area.

The troops immediately deployed to the location and engaged the suspected criminals, who reportedly withdrew into the surrounding bush after encountering the soldiers.

The troops subsequently conducted fighting patrols across the area to prevent the suspected attackers from regrouping or returning to the community.

No casualty was reported in the available situation report.

The incident comes amid security concerns in parts of Mangu and other areas of Plateau State, where isolated attacks and movements of armed groups have continued to threaten rural communities.

The troops have continued to maintain patrols and surveillance around vulnerable communities to prevent criminal elements from gaining freedom of movement and enable prompt responses to emerging threats.
