Sanwo-Olu Congratulates Tinubu on APC Presidential Ticket

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on emerging as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.

Sanwo-Olu described Tinubu’s victory at the party’s presidential primary as a reflection of the confidence and trust party members continue to place in his leadership.

In a statement released on Monday through the Office of the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the governor said the outcome of the primary election was well deserved.

The statement, signed by Mr. Gboyega Akosile, also commended the APC National Working Committee and party executives across the states for conducting what it described as a peaceful and organised exercise nationwide.

According to the governor, Tinubu’s emergence reaffirmed the support of party members for his vision and commitment to national development.

Sanwo-Olu further praised the party’s adoption of direct primaries, noting that the process strengthened internal democracy by allowing members to participate directly in the selection of candidates.

He said the exercise demonstrated the APC’s commitment to giving party members a stronger voice in its decision-making process.

The Lagos governor also defended Tinubu’s economic reforms, stating that the administration had taken difficult but necessary decisions aimed at stabilising the nation’s economy and creating a foundation for sustainable growth.

According to him, effective leadership often requires courage and decisive actions capable of moving the country forward.

Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that Nigerians would continue to support policies focused on long-term progress and national development.

The APC presidential primary was conducted on Saturday as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu secured the party’s ticket after polling over 10 million votes to defeat his closest challenger, Stanley Osifo.
