Tiwa Savage Recalls Emotional Struggles, Says She Cried in Don Jazzy’s Room
Nigerian music star, Tiwa Savage has opened up about the emotional challenges she faced during her early years in the music industry, revealing that she often sought comfort in the room of Don Jazzy during difficult moments.
The award-winning singer made the disclosure in a recent interview while reflecting on her time at Mavin Records, where she rose to prominence.
According to her, the label functioned as more than just a business, describing it as a close-knit family where artists supported one another through personal and professional struggles.
Tiwa Savage recounted that during particularly tough periods, she would retreat to Don Jazzy’s room, where fellow artists would gather to share their experiences, offer encouragement, and sometimes break down in tears.
“If something was going on, I’d run to Jazzy’s room, and we’d all gather, cry, talk and get through it,” she said. She credited Don Jazzy’s management style for fostering a supportive environment, noting that he prioritized the well-being of his artists rather than focusing solely on commercial success.
The singer added that this approach played a significant role in helping her navigate the pressures of fame and the music industry.
Tiwa Savage joined Mavin Records in 2012 following the breakup of Mo’Hits Records and went on to become one of the label’s biggest stars, releasing several hit songs and acclaimed projects.
Her time at the label marked a defining phase in her career and helped establish her as one of Africa’s leading female artists.
In 2019, she exited Mavin Records and signed an international deal with Universal Music Group, further expanding her global reach.
Her recent revelation has sparked conversations among fans about the often-hidden emotional toll of fame, as well as the importance of support systems within the entertainment industry.
