Enugu APC Declares Winners for 2027 Senatorial Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has announced the winners of its senatorial primary elections ahead of the 2027 polls.

The results were declared at the party secretariat in Enugu after a peaceful exercise conducted across the state. This marks an important step for the party as it prepares candidates for the National Assembly.

Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, Chairman of the APC National Assembly Primary Elections Committee for Enugu State, announced the results. Senator Osita Ngwu emerged victorious in Enugu West Senatorial District with a strong 70,015 votes. In Enugu East, Senator Kelvin Chukwu won overwhelmingly with 111,743 votes against his opponent’s 482 votes.

For Enugu North Senatorial District, Chief Ikeje Asogwa secured the ticket after polling 125,089 votes. Other aspirants in that zone, including Dr. Ugo Ugwuanyi, Chinazo Eze, and Princess Edith Ugwuanyi, received far fewer votes. Party leaders praised the smooth and orderly conduct of the primaries.

Funkekeme commended Governor Peter Mbah for creating a peaceful environment and thanked APC members for their discipline. The State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, described the process as successful and noted that it covered all 260 wards in the state. He said the primaries reflect true internal democracy.

The winners have called for unity within the party. Senator Osita Ngwu, speaking on behalf of the successful candidates, urged all aspirants to work together for the APC’s success in 2027. Many see this development as a boost for the party’s chances in Enugu State during the coming elections.
