Yobe APC Aspirant Bomai Withdraws from Governorship Race
Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, the lawmaker representing Yobe South, has stepped down from the race for Yobe State governor under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made the announcement after weeks of wide consultations with party leaders, elders, and supporters. The decision comes as part of efforts to promote unity and protect the overall interest of the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
Bomai explained that his decision followed deep reflection and advice from respected stakeholders. Although he had strong support and worked hard to pursue his ambition, he believes it is best to step aside at this time.
He thanked his loyal supporters for their sacrifices, prayers, and mobilisation across the state, describing their commitment as unforgettable.
In his statement, the senator stressed that power belongs to God alone. He urged his supporters to remain calm, united, and hopeful despite the outcome. Bomai assured them that his vision for youth empowerment, better education, healthcare, security, and economic growth in Yobe State remains alive.
This withdrawal adds to similar moves by other APC aspirants in Yobe recently. It is seen by many as part of ongoing efforts to build consensus and strengthen the party. Political observers believe these steps will help the APC present a united front in the coming elections.
The development has brought fresh attention to the political realignments happening in Yobe State. As the party prepares for its primaries, residents are watching closely to see who will eventually emerge as the candidate. Senator Bomai’s move is viewed by many as a sign of maturity and commitment to the greater good of the state.
