NCAA Unveils New Digital Platform for Aviation Licences, Medical Certificates
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has launched a new digital platform called EMPIC Personnel Licencing and Medical Certification.
This system is designed to replace old paper-based processes with a modern, efficient digital one. The move aims to improve safety, transparency, and ease of doing business in the aviation sector.
Capt. Chris Najomo, the Director General of NCAA, urged all aviation stakeholders including airlines, training organisations, medical centres, and licence holders to fully support the new system.
He explained that the platform will make licence applications, renewals, and verifications faster and more reliable. It also includes features like real-time tracking and secure biometric identification.
The new digital system is expected to bring many benefits to users. Licence holders can now enjoy quicker processing times, better data accuracy, and easier global recognition of their credentials. Airlines and operators will be able to verify licences instantly, reducing risks and improving compliance with international standards.
Najomo described the launch as the first major step in a broader digital transformation journey for the NCAA. He stressed that strong digital infrastructure is necessary to meet global aviation requirements and handle the growing number of flights and personnel in the industry. Stakeholder meetings were held in Lagos to prepare everyone for the full rollout.
This development marks a significant improvement in how Nigeria manages its aviation regulatory processes. Many in the sector believe the new platform will strengthen safety standards and position Nigeria’s aviation industry better on the world stage. As the system goes live, smooth adoption by all parties will be key to its success.
