Mutfwang Assures NYSC Members of Safety in Plateau, Donates N5m

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps serving in the state of adequate protection, saying his administration will continue to collaborate with security agencies to safeguard their lives and welfare.

Mutfwang gave the assurance on Saturday during the opening and swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch C Stream II Orientation Course at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South Local Government Area.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman of the NYSC Plateau State Governing Board, Miaphen, the governor said the safety of corps members remained a priority for his administration.

He said the state government was working with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen security across the state.

Mutfwang urged the corps members to remain vigilant and comply with established security guidelines throughout their service year.

He also charged them to contribute to national development by undertaking meaningful community service in their host communities.

The governor encouraged the corps members to promote national unity by respecting Nigeria’s ethnic, religious and cultural diversity, as well as the customs and traditions of the communities where they would serve.

As part of his administration’s support for the NYSC scheme, Mutfwang donated N5m towards the corps members’ welcome and the conduct of the orientation exercise.

In a separate gesture, Miaphen donated N1m on behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the NYSC Plateau State Dance Troupe for its performance during the ceremony.

Earlier, the Plateau State NYSC Coordinator, Jonathan Yavala, urged the corps members to uphold the dignity of the NYSC uniform and maintain discipline throughout their service year.

Yavala called on them to demonstrate tolerance, humility, respect and patriotism while carrying out their responsibilities.

He further encouraged the corps members to participate actively in the orientation programme, build relationships across cultural and ethnic lines, and apply their knowledge and skills to addressing development challenges in their host communities.
