FG Awards ₦690bn Road Contracts Across South-West, North-West
The Federal Government has awarded road construction and rehabilitation contracts valued at over ₦690 billion across key states in the South-West and North-West regions as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s transport infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.
The contracts, awarded through the Federal Ministry of Works, cover major highway projects in Kaduna, Oyo, Ogun and Osun states. The projects are expected to improve interstate connectivity, ease transportation challenges and enhance commercial activities across the affected regions.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the projects align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure development as a key driver of national economic transformation.
According to Umahi, the roads will be constructed using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement technology to ensure durability and reduce maintenance costs over time.
He stressed that the government remains committed to delivering high-quality roads capable of lasting for decades. Among the approved projects is the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State awarded to J. Patel and Sons Nigeria Limited for ₦178.1 billion.
The dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road linking Oyo and Ogun states was awarded to JRB Construction Company Limited at a cost of ₦295.9 billion.
In Osun State, Truecrete Solutions Limited secured the ₦101.8 billion contract for the Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road project, while Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited received the ₦114.8 billion contract for the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road.
The minister directed all contractors handling the projects to mobilise to their respective sites immediately and ensure timely completion in line with agreed specifications and standards.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Rafiu Adeladan, described the contract signing as a major milestone in the government’s infrastructure renewal programme. He assured Nigerians that the ministry would closely monitor execution to guarantee quality delivery.
The latest road projects form part of the Tinubu administration’s broader infrastructure expansion strategy aimed at improving mobility, boosting trade and supporting regional development across the country.
