Pharmacists, Health Workers Demand Better Infrastructure to Fight Cancer

Pharmacists and other health professionals in Nigeria are calling for improved infrastructure to effectively combat cancer in the country. They say the current facilities are not enough to handle the growing number of cancer cases.

This demand was made during a recent gathering of stakeholders in the health sector.

The professionals emphasised that better-equipped hospitals, more diagnostic centres, and modern treatment machines are needed across the country. They noted that many patients lose their lives because of late detection and lack of proper treatment facilities.

According to them, upgrading infrastructure will help save more lives and reduce the burden of cancer.

Cancer has become a major health challenge in Nigeria, with thousands of people diagnosed every year. Health workers believe that with stronger government support and investment in cancer care, the country can make significant progress in prevention, early detection, and treatment.

They urged authorities to treat cancer care as a national priority.

This call comes as experts warn that cancer cases are rising due to lifestyle changes, environmental factors, and limited awareness. The professionals pledged to work closely with the government to improve cancer management if the needed infrastructure is provided.

Many Nigerians have welcomed the demand by pharmacists and other health workers. They hope the government will respond positively by building more cancer treatment centres and training more specialists. Better infrastructure is seen as key to winning the fight against cancer in the country.
