Keep Adedeji Out of Political Battles, Aderonke Atoyebi Urges

An investigative journalist and media aide, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, has cautioned political actors against dragging the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, into ongoing political disputes, describing him as a technocrat focused on national assignments.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Aderonke said Adedeji’s role under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requires full concentration, warning that attempts to associate him with political campaigns or local rivalries are inappropriate and distracting.

She described Adedeji as a disciplined professional whose work in revenue administration has been defined by structure, accountability and measurable outcomes rather than political rhetoric.

According to her, recent political developments, particularly in Oyo State, have been marked by increasing hostility and the use of public figures’ names for partisan advantage, a trend she said should not involve Adedeji.

Aderonke maintained that the revenue chief is not a career politician and should not be treated as a participant in electoral contests, urging stakeholders to focus on their campaigns, policies and voter engagement instead.

She added that while individuals are free to seek support, such efforts must be done with respect, noting that refusal to align with any political ambition does not justify attacks or public criticism.

The journalist emphasised that elections are temporary but institutions and policy outcomes endure, stressing that Adedeji remains committed to long-term national development through his current office.

She concluded by urging political actors to refrain from using the revenue chief’s name in political battles and allow him to concentrate on his mandate.
