Yobe: APC Guber Aspirant Rejects Wali’s Endorsement, Picks Governorship Forms
A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Kashim Musa Tumsah, has obtained nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the primary for the 2027 election, signalling his formal entry into the race.
In a statement issued shortly after, the petroleum lawyer and development advocate said he was committed to participating fully in the process, stressing his belief in democratic principles, transparency and internal party cohesion. He urged his supporters across the state to remain calm, law-abiding and focused.
Tumsah also reacted to recent political developments in the state, particularly the endorsement of Baba Malam Wali as consensus candidate by party stakeholders, expressing concern over what he described as the absence of wide consultation before the decision. He said inclusive engagement and due process were critical to ensuring unity, equity and fairness within the party.
The aspirant called on the national leadership of the APC to remain neutral and ensure a level playing field for all contestants during the primary. He warned against any attempt to manipulate the process in favour of any candidate, noting that such actions could undermine the credibility of the party.
Tumsah further appealed to party officials at all levels to guarantee a transparent and credible primary election, adding that any sense of exclusion among members could weaken party unity. He urged APC members in Yobe to remain vigilant and actively safeguard the integrity of the process.
According to him, the collective interest of the party should take precedence over individual ambitions. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and its ideals, calling on stakeholders to uphold internal democracy and ensure that the outcome of the primary reflects the will of party members.
