Mainoo Inks Five-year Deal with Manchester United
Manchester United have officially confirmed that Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new long-term contract, extending his stay at Old Trafford until June 2031.
The announcement, made on Thursday, puts an end to months of speculation regarding the 21-year-old’s future and underscores his status as a cornerstone of the club’s long-term project. The new agreement reportedly includes a substantial salary increase, reflecting his rapid ascent from academy graduate to first-team talisman.
The Stockport-born midfielder has been a revelation since breaking into the senior squad, amassing nearly 100 appearances and etching his name into club folklore with the decisive goal in the 2024 FA Cup Final.
Having joined the academy at the age of six, Mainoo’s journey through the ranks—from The Cliff to Carrington—has made him a fan favorite and a symbol of the club’s “youth, courage, success” mantra.
This contract extension comes at a pivotal moment in the season. After a turbulent autumn where Mainoo saw limited minutes under former manager Ruben Amorim, leading to rumors of a potential summer exit, the midfielder has found a new lease of life under Michael Carrick.
Since Carrick’s arrival as head coach, Mainoo has started 11 of the last 12 matches, playing a vital role in United’s climb back into the Premier League’s top three and their push for Champions League qualification.
“Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family,” Mainoo said following the signing. “I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt. We can all feel the momentum building inside the club, and I am determined to play my role in helping us regularly fight for major trophies.”
United’s Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, hailed the deal as a major boost, describing Mainoo as one of the most naturally gifted young players in world football. With his future now secured for the next five years, the focus shifts to the final weeks of the campaign as Mainoo looks to lead United’s midfield into a new era of stability and silverware.
