APC Extends Sale, Submission of Nomination Forms to Monday and Tuesday
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced an extension for the sale and submission of expression of interest and nomination forms for aspirants seeking various elective offices.
In a statement released by the party’s National Secretariat, the leadership confirmed that the deadline has been moved to Monday and Tuesday, respectively, to ensure a more inclusive process ahead of the primary season.
This decision follows a surge in interest from prospective candidates across the country, many of whom cited logistical challenges in meeting the original timeline. By pushing the dates back, the party aims to accommodate latecomers and ensure that all qualified individuals have a fair opportunity to participate in the upcoming democratic exercise.
Under the revised schedule, Monday serves as the final cutoff for the purchase of forms, while Tuesday has been designated as the ultimate deadline for the submission of all completed documentation. Party officials have emphasized that there will be no further extensions, urging all aspirants to utilize this additional window to finalize their applications at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
The extension comes at a high-stakes moment for the party, as high-profile figures, including President Bola Tinubu, have already obtained their forms for the 2027 general elections. The National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, noted that these adjustments are part of a broader effort to improve transparency and coordination as the political calendar intensifies.
While the administrative office has been a hive of activity, the party is also navigating internal discussions regarding the cost of the forms. With presidential tickets priced at 100 million naira and governorship forms at 50 million naira, the extension provides extra time for aspirants to consolidate their financial and political backing before the formal screening process begins.
Security at the party’s national secretariat has been bolstered to manage the influx of supporters and candidates expected over the next 48 hours. The leadership remains committed to providing a level playing field, stressing that the integrity of the primary process is paramount to maintaining party unity and securing victory in future polls.
As the new deadline approaches, the APC has instructed all state chapters to facilitate the smooth movement of aspirants to the federal capital. This move is seen as a strategic effort to minimize disenfranchisement and ensure that the party presents its most competitive and widely supported candidates for the various legislative and executive roles up for grabs.
