Mercedes-Benz Sues Victor Osimhen Over Alleged ₦142 Million Debt
German automaker, Mercedes-Benz has taken legal action against Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen.
The company filed a complaint with the Italian Carabinieri, accusing the Super Eagles striker of failing to complete payments for a leased vehicle. The alleged debt is reported to be around ₦142 million.
According to reports, Osimhen entered into a lease agreement for a luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicle but stopped making payments as required. The automaker claims that the outstanding amount has remained unpaid despite attempts to resolve the matter.
This has now pushed the company to involve law enforcement in Italy, where Osimhen currently plays his club football.
The Italian Carabinieri, a national military police force, often handles such financial complaints involving contracts and unpaid debts.
Mercedes-Benz is seeking to recover the full amount through this legal channel. The case draws attention not just because of the high-profile footballer involved, but also due to the large sum of money at the center of the dispute.
Victor Osimhen, who is one of Africa’s most celebrated football stars, has not yet publicly responded to the allegations. His representatives have also remained silent so far. Fans and sports analysts are now watching closely to see how the Napoli striker will handle this off-pitch legal challenge, which could affect his reputation if proven true.
For now, the case is still in its early stages with the Carabinieri. It remains unclear whether the matter will go to trial or be settled out of court. But one thing is certain: a legal battle over an unpaid ₦142 million debt is not what supporters expected to hear about their beloved goal-scoring hero.
