PTAD Completes Payment of N32,000 Arrears to 54,206 Pensioners

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has officially announced the completion of payments for the outstanding one-month arrears of the N32,000 pension increment.

This final disbursement, aimed at eligible retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), totals N1,734,592,000. These funds have reached 54,206 pensioners, marking the settlement of a financial obligation authorized by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) that originally took effect on July 29, 2024.

The Directorate executed the payments across two primary departments to ensure all eligible retirees were reached. Specifically, the Parastatals Pension Department (PaPD) processed payments for 25,804 pensioners, totaling N825,728,000. Concurrently, the Tertiary Education and Health Pension Department (TEHPD) oversaw the distribution of N908,864,000 to 28,402 pensioners, completing the necessary allocations for these sectors.

These arrears were tied to a 13-month period spanning from August 2024 to August 2025. PTAD noted that previous phases had already addressed 12 months of the owed increment, with this current disbursement settling the final month. With this transaction, the Directorate has confirmed that all outstanding obligations related to the specific N32,000 pension increment have been fully satisfied.

The agency also clarified specific exclusions to ensure administrative accuracy. Pensioners from several defunct agencies, including NITEL/MTEL, PHCN, NICON Insurance, and the Petroleum Training Institute, are exempt from this particular increment. In accordance with NSIWC circulars, these individuals were excluded because they had previously received alternative percentage-based pension increases of 10.66% and 12.95%.

In his statement, Olugbenga Ajayi, the Head of Corporate Communications for PTAD, underscored the agency’s dedication to the welfare and dignity of DBS pensioners. He highlighted that principles of transparency, accuracy, and timely pension administration remain central to the Directorate’s mission.

These efforts are consistent with the Federal Government’s broader commitment to the “Renewed Hope Agenda” aimed at supporting the nation’s retirees.
