President Tinubu Commends NIMC Boss for Advancing National Identity System

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Bisoye Coker-Odusote, on the occasion of her birthday, commending her leadership and contributions to Nigeria’s identity management system.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Coker-Odusote’s efforts in strengthening identity data infrastructure and expanding access to national identification services across the country.

Tinubu highlighted her role in improving the reliability, accessibility, and integration of Nigeria’s identity database into national development planning, noting that her work has supported the effective design and implementation of government programmes, particularly in security and infrastructure.

The President also acknowledged her previous experience as General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency, describing her career trajectory as a source of inspiration to young Nigerians, especially women aspiring to leadership roles in public service.

According to the statement, Tinubu commended Coker-Odusote’s diligence in compiling accurate and dependable identity data, which has become critical for policy planning and execution. He further praised her ability to mobilise personnel, collaborate with other government agencies, and deploy emerging technologies to enhance identity data capture and processing nationwide.

The President noted that these efforts have significantly extended NIMC’s reach, particularly in rural communities, where access to identity registration services has historically been limited.

Encouraging her to sustain the momentum, Tinubu wished the NIMC chief executive continued good health, strength, and success in her service to the nation.

The statement was signed by Onanuga and dated April 26, 2026.
