Ogun Local Government Chairman Mobilises Support for Tinubu, Yayi, Abiodun
The chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government in Ogun State, Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo has called on party members to rally strongly behind key leaders of the All Progressives Congress ahead of future elections.
The Local government chairman, who also serves as the state coordinator of the Tinubu Support Organisation, made this appeal during a meeting with coordinators from all 20 local government areas. The gathering took place in Akomoje, Abeokuta, where strategies were discussed to boost support at the grassroots level.
Oyegbola-Sodipo praised President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in turning around the nation’s economy and positioning it for better growth. He described the president’s re-election bid as already halfway successful because of his good governance record. The chairman also threw his weight behind Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, who has been named the party’s choice for governor in 2027, citing his strong performance and track record in public service.
Governor Dapo Abiodun received full backing as well, with the group urging continued unity to ensure the party’s success across the state. The chairman stressed that everyone must work together to overcome challenges like low voter turnout. He pointed out that in the last presidential election, the party got around 400,000 votes, which was only about 11 percent of registered voters, and called for a big improvement.
To achieve their goals, the Tinubu Support Organisation, which has over 50,000 registered members, plans to visit homes and neighbourhoods across the state’s 236 wards. They aim to secure at least one million votes by encouraging people to collect their voter cards and actively participate. The target is to get a minimum of 2,000 votes from each ward through house-to-house campaigns and strong teamwork.
Special Adviser to the governor on youth affairs, Olamide Lawal, also spoke at the meeting. He highlighted the importance of involving young people, who make up a large part of the population, in the mobilisation efforts and in governance. The overall message was one of unity and hard work to deliver victory for the APC in the coming elections.
