EFCC Warns Skit Makers Against Unauthorized Use of Name, Logo
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has cautioned content creators against using its name, logo, uniforms or identity in skits and other media productions without formal approval, warning that offenders risk prosecution.
In a video statement released on Saturday via its official X account, the agency said it had observed a growing trend of individuals incorporating its identity into online content without authorisation, often in ways that distort its operations and procedures.
According to the commission, it has not granted permission for such portrayals and does not endorse or support any form of entertainment content that uses its image without written consent.
The anti-graft body directed those involved to immediately discontinue the practice, stressing that any continued misuse of its identity elements would attract legal consequences.
The warning also reflects broader concerns within the commission over increasing cases of impersonation, including fake enforcement activities carried out by individuals posing as its officials.
The agency noted that intelligence reports have revealed the use of deceptive tactics by fraudsters seeking to damage its reputation, with some operating in public spaces such as restaurants and recreational centres where unsuspecting youths are targeted.
