Five Dead, Three Hurt as Gunmen Storm Forest Guards’ Office in Kaduna

Gunmen have attacked the office of forest guards in a community within Kaduna State, killing five people. Three others were seriously injured in the assault. The attackers stormed the facility without warning, catching many off guard.

Officials say the gunmen came heavily armed and showed no mercy. The community is now in shock over the sudden violence.

The forest guards were responsible for protecting local woodlands and fighting illegal logging. Their office served as a base for patrols and security operations in the area. On the day of the attack, many guards were present inside the building. Witnesses reported hearing loud gunshots that lasted for several minutes.

By the time help arrived, five bodies had been counted.

Three injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors say some of them are in critical condition. Security forces have since taken over the scene to begin investigations.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, officials suspect the gunmen may be linked to illegal timber operators who wanted revenge.

Local residents have expressed fear and anger over the killings. Many called on the government to deploy more security personnel to the area. Some said the forest guards had received threats before but no action was taken.

Community leaders are now meeting to discuss how to protect themselves. They urged the government to find the attackers and bring them to justice.

The Kaduna State government has condemned the attack and promised a full investigation. Security agencies have been ordered to track down those responsible.

Meanwhile, the injured are receiving care at state expense. Forest guard operations have been temporarily suspended for safety reasons. Officials ended by urging citizens to remain calm and report any suspicious movements to the police.
