INEC Appoints Dr. Mutiu Agboke as Ondo Resident Electoral Commissioner

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appointed Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen electoral administration in the country.

Dr. Agboke, who previously served in the same capacity in Osun State, has officially assumed office in Akure, the Ondo State capital. His redeployment is seen as a strategic move by INEC to ensure continuity, efficiency, and preparedness ahead of forthcoming electoral activities in the state.

A legal practitioner by training, Agboke was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 and has built a reputation as an experienced election administrator.

Over the years, he has held key positions within the electoral system, including serving as a member of a state electoral commission and overseeing major election cycles across different states.

INEC, in its announcement, expressed confidence in his ability to deliver credible and transparent elections, citing his track record in managing complex electoral processes.

The commission reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system through strategic appointments and institutional reforms. Stakeholders in Ondo State have welcomed the appointment, noting that it comes at a critical time when preparations for future elections are gathering momentum.

Political observers believe Agboke’s experience will play a significant role in strengthening voter confidence and improving the conduct of elections in the state.

The appointment underscores INEC’s broader objective of ensuring professionalism, neutrality, and efficiency in the management of elections across Nigeria.
