Commences Removal of Illegal Structures on Badagry Expressway

The Lagos State Government has commenced a massive clearance operation along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway to dismantle illegal structures and restore the free flow of traffic.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement shared via his official X handle on Monday.
According to Wahab, the enforcement exercise began at Alakija within the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area.
He noted that the operation moved through Iyana Iba and is currently focused on the area opposite Lagos State University (LASU), with simultaneous enforcement ongoing at Alaba Market in the Ojo Local Government Area.
Wahab stated, “Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Agency (LAGESC), in collaboration with other enforcement teams of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, have commenced clearance operations at Alakija.”
“The operation has since progressed through Iyana Iba and is currently ongoing opposite Lagos State University (LASU), with active enforcement at Alaba Market along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway,” he added.
This exercise follows a series of similar enforcement actions across the state in late 2025, including major clearances along the Jakande Coastal Road and the arrest of street beggars on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Wahab emphasized that these latest operations are part of a broader government effort to improve environmental sanitation, enhance traffic management, and ensure strict compliance with urban planning regulations along the international highways.
