Osun Assembly Speaker, Monarch Resolve Dispute
The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Honorable Adewale Egbedun, has returned to his native town, Asi, following a conflict with Oba Isaac Oyewale.
The Speaker, who had been at odds with Oba Oyewale after a recorded phone conversation was disseminated by the monarch’s wife, made his return to the town on Thursday.
Intervention by traditional rulers, including the Oloyan of Oyan, Oba Kilani Adekeye, successfully mediated the disagreement between the Speaker and the king.
Asi’s youth leader, Samuel Olawoyin, confirmed the reconciliation.
He stated that the townspeople gathered to welcome the Speaker alongside several traditional chiefs representing Oba Oyewale.
“We all assembled here to welcome our leader, Egbedun. We commend him for fostering peace within the community. He assured us that the dispute is resolved, and we are in agreement.
“The presence of these chiefs signifies that the discord between the Speaker and the monarch has been amicably settled,” Olawoyin remarked.
Additionally, a woman identifying herself as Deborah affirmed the resolution of the issue and the peaceful coexistence within Asi.
The Speaker had previously expressed regret to the townspeople for his emotional response towards the monarch, acknowledging that he was provoked by the monarch’s past actions which he had endured.
Addressing the inhabitants of Asi, Egbedun implored them to maintain harmony, asserting that he is no longer engaged in any conflict.
