The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the wider media community in Jigawa State are mourning the loss of one of their own, Comrade Fahad Muhammad Malamadori, a former Chairman of the NUJ Jigawa State Council, who passed away at the age of 55.

His death was confirmed by the incumbent NUJ Chairman, Comrade Samaila Ibrahim Dutse, who disclosed that Malamadori died in the late hours of Sunday, June 6, 2025, at his residence in Malam Madori town.

Until his demise, the veteran journalist was a staff member of the Jigawa State Ministry of Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, serving as the Information Officer responsible for Birniwa and Kirikasamma local government areas. He also remained active in union affairs, holding a position as a member of the NUJ Jigawa Council’s Advisory Committee.

Malamadori was laid to rest in his hometown, Malam Madori, according to Islamic rites. He is survived by his wife and four children.

The NUJ Zone A, in a condolence message signed by its Secretary, Abdulrazak Bello Kaura, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Malamadori.

The union extended heartfelt condolences to NUJ National President Alhassan Usman, the National Secretariat, the Jigawa State Government, his immediate family, and the entire journalism profession.

Kaura described the deceased as a dedicated journalist and unionist whose death represents a monumental loss to the NUJ family. “We pray Almighty Allah grants his soul eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus,” the message read.

Similarly, the NUJ Jigawa State Council, in a tribute signed by its Secretary, Comrade Aisha Ahmed, hailed Malamadori as a journalist who exemplified the highest standards of truth, professionalism, and unity throughout his career.

According to the statement, his time as chairman of the council was defined by integrity, selflessness, and a steadfast commitment to the welfare of journalists in the state. “His sterling performance and leadership will remain indelible in the annals of our history,” she added.

Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, media organizations, and public officials who remember Malamadori not just as a reporter and administrator, but as a passionate advocate for press freedom and the rights of journalists.

The media community in Jigawa and beyond now reflects on the contributions of a man who gave much of his life to the service of journalism and the protection of its ideals.
