Kevin De Bruyne Waves Goodbye to Manchester City After 10-Years

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has announced he will be leaving the club this summer after 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgium international’s deal expires in the summer, and he has now confirmed that he will be departing as a free agent.

De Bruyne, aged 33, has been instrumental in City’s triumph over the past 10 years, accumulating 16 awards including six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields, and one Champions League.

He has also received the Premier League Player of the Season award twice (2019-20, 2021-22).

In his heartfelt social media post, De Bruyne wanted to thank the club, city, and people by saying: “Football brought me to all of you — and to this city. Following my dream, without knowing this era would change my life. This city. This club. These people. gave me everything. I didn’t have another choice but to give everything back! And guess what — we won everything.”

De Bruyne joined City in 2015 from Wolfsburg and became one of the Premier League’s greatest midfielders of all time. He has played 413 games for the club, scoring 106 goals and making 174 assists. His playmaking ability has seen him achieve the second-most Premier League assists, 118, behind Ryan Giggs (162).

The Belgian midfielder has been central to City’s era of supremacy, and his departure will be a huge loss to the club. Nevertheless, he can potentially bring his spell at City to an end with even more silverware, since the club have an FA Cup semifinal against Nottingham Forest in a fortnight’s time.

De Bruyne’s next destination remains unclear, with rumors concerning his potential transfers to the MLS and Saudi Pro League. Wherever he ends up, his legacy at Manchester City is set, and he will always be remembered as being one of Manchester City’s all-time greats.

De Bruyne’s departure from Manchester City marks the end of an era, but it also leaves everyone speculating about what he will do next. Will he join a new club in Europe, or will he join the MLS or Saudi Pro League? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – Kevin De Bruyne will always be remembered as a Manchester City legend.
