Adebayo Family Demands Independent Probe into Alleged Double Murder

The family of Oluwapelumi Simidele Adebayo has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to launch an independent investigation into what they described as a suspected double murder involving their son and Lokoja-based photojournalist, Ayo Aiyepeku.

The family made the demand through their legal representative, Dele Adebayo of HephziIbah Chambers, while rejecting police claims that Oluwapelumi killed Aiyepeku before committing suicide.

They alleged that both men were killed on July 23, 2025, insisting that the suicide narrative was a cover-up orchestrated to conceal a double homicide.

According to the family, Oluwapelumi had already been killed before being moved to a hotel scene allegedly staged to suggest suicide.

They further claimed that his body was manipulated, including being cleaned and placed with items such as poison and food to support the suicide theory.

The family also alleged that the suspects involved attempted to discredit the deceased by circulating claims of mental illness and fabricating evidence, including a supposed suicide note.

They insisted that autopsy and toxicology reports contradicted the official narrative and supported their claim of foul play.

The Adebayo family said they had petitioned the police since July 30, 2025, but expressed concern over what they described as delays in investigation and prosecution.

They also accused some individuals of attempting to influence evidence and suppress critical records, including phone call logs they believe are vital to the case.

The family argued that the circumstances surrounding the deaths point to a coordinated act involving multiple actors and called for full transparency in the investigation.

They urged the police and relevant security agencies to treat the matter as a serious national security concern and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
