The Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful arrest of a notorious kidnapping gang responsible for the high-profile abduction of a police officer and his son. 

The suspects were apprehended following a rigorous intelligence-led operation that tracked them to their hideouts. This breakthrough comes after the gang successfully extorted a staggering ₦24 million ransom from the victims’ family before their eventual release.

According to official statements, the tactical team recovered a portion of the ransom money along with several sophisticated firearms and ammunition during the raid. The kidnappers had reportedly targeted the officer and his son in a coordinated ambush, holding them captive in a remote forest location for several days. Investigations revealed that the syndicate had been operating across several states, specializing in targeting high-value individuals and members of security agencies to demand exorbitant sums.

The Force Public Relations Officer confirmed that the suspects have provided useful confessions regarding their operations and other members of the network still at large.

The police are currently working to trace the remainder of the ransom, which had already been laundered through various accounts and luxury purchases. The arrested individuals are expected to face multiple charges, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal possession of firearms, as soon as the preliminary investigations are concluded.
