‎Superlative Leadership Acumen of Engr. Jennifer Adighije

‎Happy Birthday to a leader whose unrivalled clear vision has brought literal and metaphorical light to millions. On this special occasion, the BAT Ideological Group and the many communities you have wiped off their tears wish you a prosperous year ahead, filled with joy and continued success. We pray for a turbulence-free journey as you continue to climb higher in your service to the nation, overcoming every challenge with the grace and grit you are known for.

‎For a long time , the Rigasa community in Igabi LGA, Kaduna State, lived in a forced twilight, disconnected from the national grid. Over three million residents saw their lives and businesses stalled by a darkness that lasted for a very long time in certain areas. Today, that narrative is shifting dramatically, driven by a leadership style that prioritizes community impact over administrative inertia.

‎At the center of this transformation is Engr. Jennifer Adighije, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). Her sophistication does not stem from outward appearance or stature, but from a high-level intellectual capacity and a refined approach to complex problem-solving. She is a leader of depth, whose sophistication is found in her ability to navigate the intricate technicalities of the power sector while remaining a down-to-earth go-getter.

‎The restoration of power to Rigasa stands as a flagship achievement of her tenure. By intervening in a community that had been without power for long , Adighije has effectively moved millions of people from darkness to light. This project has become a beacon of hope, leading more than 300 other communities to seek similar interventions from the NDPHC.

‎I have personally witnessed the sophisticated modesty that defines her character. While others in such high positions might lean on the comfort of private travel, I encountered her on a 6:30 am Air Peace commercial flight to Abuja on October 28. This encounter serves as a clear demonstration that she does not use private jets for personal advantage, but instead opts for the disciplined path of commercial travel to ensure financial responsibility. Modesty is her lifestyle.

‎Under her adroit guidance, the NDPHC has recorded significant milestones in asset recovery and operational efficiency, such as clearing 110 containers at Onne Port that saved the company over 20 Billion Naira in customs duties and port levies. She successfully restored two generating units at Calabar and Omotosho to contribute 230MW to the grid while also spearheading the digitalization of machine O&M spare parts inventory to save procurement costs. Furthermore, her leadership has improved morale by converting critical third-party contract manpower into permanent staff across the power plants.

‎Her commitment to financial discipline, stability and capital project completion has been equally impactful, including the recovery of $4 Million USD from Togo’s CEET and a resolution with Eko Disco ensuring 500 Million Naira monthly payments. She has advanced discussions to recoup over 100 Billion Naira in investments handed over to the TCN and completed the Afam-Ikot Ekpene Double-Circuit Transmission Line. Strategic electrification projects were also finished at Borno State University, Orogun Town in Delta State, and the College of Agriculture in Maiduguri.

‎Beyond hardware, Adighije has introduced sophisticated systemic reforms to ensure long-term sustainability and transparency. She established a price-benchmarking desk for enhancing procurement practices via market surveys to reduce costs and lead times. These reforms reflect a leader who values merit and institutional accountability as much as she values engineering excellence.

‎Members of the BAT Ideological Group view her as one of the staunch pillars of the current administration. Her work reflects a direct execution of the President’s mission, proving that when public institutions are led by workaholics, result-oriented individuals, the entire nation succeeds. She has distinguished herself as a leader who has truly justified her position through measurable, high-impact results as a round peg in a round hole.

‎As she celebrates another year and milestone, the prayers from the millions of residents in Rigasa and beyond serve as a testament to her impact. In a landscape where public service is often viewed with skepticism, the brightened villages of Kaduna stand as a powerful rebuttal. Engr. Jennifer Adighije isn’t just managing a power company; she is restoring the belief that leadership can, quite literally, turn the lights back on for the nation.
