NYSC Provides Free Healthcare to 757 Patients in Jigawa State
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has offered free medical care to 757 patients in Jigawa State.
The outreach programme took place recently and brought relief to many residents who needed treatment but could not afford it. Corps members and medical teams worked together to provide basic health services to people in the area.
During the exercise, patients received check-ups, drugs, and advice on common health issues. The programme focused on communities where access to hospitals is limited. Many families expressed gratitude for the free services, saying it helped them save money and get timely care for minor illnesses.
The NYSC uses such medical outreaches as part of its community development service. This allows corps members to give back to the society while serving their country. Jigawa State has benefited from similar programmes in the past, and this latest one shows the corps’ continued commitment to supporting rural areas.
Officials involved in the exercise said the goal was to improve health awareness and reduce the burden on local hospitals. They encouraged more people to take advantage of such free services whenever they are available in their communities.
This initiative has been welcomed by residents and health workers in Jigawa. It highlights how the NYSC continues to play an important role in healthcare delivery across Nigeria, especially in states with limited medical facilities. Many hope similar programmes will reach other parts of the country soon.
